The Mayan Calendar is a series of very complex calendars that are joined together to create the most complex yet highly accurate calendar ever.
How was December 21 2012 derived from the Mayan Calendar? As mentioned before, the Mayans used several calendars to make up the one Mayan Calendar. The Mayans used a series of cycles that made up larger cycles up to what we would call a long cycle. This long cycle just happens to end December 21 2012, which is also the end of the Mayan Calendar.
The ending of the long cycle on 12 21 2012 has garnered much attention from those who have just heard about it and others who have been fascinated with this date since the 1970′s. Those who have been students of the Mayan Calendar are quite concerned that something will happen on this date. There are many new students who think that it will be the end of one long cycle and the beginning of another.
Should we be concerned with 2012? What if there was something that we knew was going to happen no matter what? What if there was something so powerful coming that it could cause major disruptions on earth? Is there anything that supports the 2012 date?
