Unable to access .pst files due to forgotten password? Here is a solution by Mohit Mathur
Microsoft Outlook is a widely used personal and business e-mail management tool. Outlook uses a .pst file to store all e-mails, contacts, addresses, calendars. Therefore, many Outlook users often password protect their crucial .pst files in order to ascertain the security of the sensitive data stored inside it. This way they restrict the unauthorized persons from accessing confidential and personal information. However, at times, you may forget the password set for your default pst file. In such situations, it becomes impossible for you to access Outlook account. You might feel helpless but there is no need to be disappointed over it. You can easily recover lost or forgotten passwords with the help of an advanced PST Password Recovery software.
Consider a scenario, wherein, you decide to password protect your .pst file, and in a hurry you forgot to select the ‘Save this password in your password list’ dialog box. After few days, when you try and access the .pst file in Microsoft Outlook after punching in a password, you receive the following error:
âThe password you have typed is incorrect. Retype the password.â
You try once again and receive the same error. The above error comes as a bolt from the blue as your are unable to open the .pst file.
Cause
The root cause of the problem is an incorrect password. You could have forgotten the password and typed in the wrong password.
Resolution
Since you forgot to select the ‘Save this password in your password list’, there is no possibility that you can Recover PST Password from the list saved in your computer.
(1) Since .pst file passwords are case sensitive, you can try and remember whether the password you assigned used uppercase or lowercase letters.
(2) Make sure Caps Lock key is not on.
(3) Strip off the pst password by using pst19upg.exe (if you are not using MS Outlook 2003 and 2007 versions).
(4) If you are still not able to recover back your Lost PST Password, you must download a third-party PST Password Recovery Tool.
Such tools recover lost or forgotten pst password, irrespective of the complexity factor. Moreover, they do not even modify the original content.
